Salon Suites are Taking Over the Booth Rental Market

Salon suites offer a variety of benefits over booth rental for hair stylists and other beauty professionals who are looking to start their own business. Over the past 10 years booth rental has been declining rapidly in popularity, while salon suites have been on the rise and offer so much more than booth rent:

Cost savings: Renting a salon suite is often more affordable than renting retail space, as you only have to pay for your individual space. This is especially appealing for new businesses or those just starting out.

Invest in your success: While salon suites might cost more than booth rental, it’s usually not substantially more. In most cases you can pay an additional 15-25% in rent and get so much more renting a salon suite compared to booth renting.

Flexibility: With shorter lease terms and the option to share a studio with another professional, salon suites offer greater flexibility than traditional leases, making them more appealing.

Control over your brand: As a salon suite entrepreneur, you have complete control over your schedule, pricing, and services offered, allowing you to create a unique brand and identity for your business.

Opportunities to grow your business: By locating your business in a high traffic salon suite, such as IMAGE Studios, you have access to networking with numerous other beauty professionals that can potentially refer clients to your business.

Access to amenities: Many salon suites come equipped with basic amenities such as chairs and mirrors, saving you time and cost in setting up your own workspace. Some may also offer additional amenities like a reception area or private bathroom.

Overall, salon suites offer cost savings, flexibility, control over your brand, opportunities to grow your business, and access to amenities that make your business more efficient and convenient. This is why salon suites are a better option for hair stylists compared to booth rental.

The Benefits of Renting a Salon Suite

Salon suites have become increasingly popular among beauty professionals, especially over the past 10 years. This model allows hair stylists, barbers, estheticians, nail artists, lash artists, and other beauty professionals to rent their own private suite within a larger salon complex, giving them the freedom and flexibility to run their business on their own terms.

One of the major benefits of the salon suite model is the freedom it provides. As a salon suite owner, you have complete control over your schedule, pricing, and services offered. You can choose your own clients and build your own clientele, rather than being assigned clients by a salon owner. This allows you to create a unique brand and identity for your business.

Another advantage of the salon suite model is the cost savings. Renting a salon suite can be more affordable than renting a chair in a traditional salon, as you only have to pay for your own space rather than sharing the cost of the entire salon with other stylists. This can be especially appealing for new stylists or those just starting their own business, as it allows them to save money and invest in their business.

The salon suite model also offers a better environment for creative and individual expression. In the traditional salon model, professionals are aesthetically chained to the creative expression of the locale’s owner. On the other hand, salon suite models can offer professionals the opportunity to stylize their suite to better fit their clientele. Salon professionals know what their clients want! And customized business approaches often produce more sustainable business models. Salon suites can better wield the tool of specialization to promote healthy business.

Overall, the salon suite business model has become increasingly popular among beauty professionals due to the freedom, cost savings, and specialization it offers. If you’re a stylist or beauty professional looking to take control of your career, a salon suite might be the perfect fit for you.

The Latest Growth Trends in the Lash Industry

The lash industry has seen substantial growth in recent years, with total revenue from eyelash extensions reaching $270 million in 2018, compared to $124.95 million in 2015 in the US. The industry also recorded a 31% increase in USD and 15% in volume of falsies in 2018. 80% of the top ten eyelash extension brands in the US are owned by two companies, with Ardell Fashion leading the way with $18.6 million in revenue, followed by Kiss Ever EZ Lashes and Salon Perfectly Glamorous

Despite the waning impact of COVID, economists predict continued growth for the industry, with North America experiencing the highest growth, accounting for 37% of the market. The online lash industry is expected to grow even faster, with a compounded growth rate of 7.1% well into 2025 and beyond.

When it comes to lash technicians, over 25% have 5+ years of experience and 89% are trained in some way. Currently 74% holding a cosmetology or beauty license, 37% of artists have the potential to increase their income by offering additional beauty services, and 74% of technicians carry insurance for their work.

Lash artists face challenges in after-care for clients and fixing mistakes made by other artists. Over 50% of technicians have had to deal with clients with allergic reactions to falsies at least once a year, making allergy-patch tests a crucial step in avoiding this problem.
